I would like to discuss the following two quotes from Arun Gandhi:
Arun Gandhi said: "You can quote me as saying Mahatma Gandhi would disagree with the Plowshares actions because they employ tactics of secrecy and destruction of property. I also think locking up the most courageous and devoted peace leaders for long prison terms is a way of weakening the peace movement. Those leaders could do much more for peace outside of jail than in it." ( The Jesus Journal - Summer 1995 - No. 77…

The link between Mind and Social / Environmental-Issues.
The fast-paced, consumerist lifestyle of Industrial Society is causing exponential rise in psychological problems besides destroying the environment. All issues are interlinked. Our Minds cannot be peaceful when attention-spans are down to nanoseconds, microseconds and milliseconds. Our Minds cannot be peaceful if we destroy Nature.
Industrial Society Destroys Mind and Environment.

This short article is about a possible social vision.
The vision is that different people can live together in a dynamic social harmony.
I think and believe that each and every one of us has the right to live their private life as they want, as long as they don’t harm others.
Each and every one of us can imagine how they would feel if something they enjoy doing (and doesn’t harm others) was forbidden. Imagine that for a moment.
This is the beginning (but not the end) of…

A strange question. Probably you haven’t thought about it. It is not you, that I have in mind , its those kids who from the street and slums, child laborers and underprivileged children that I am thinking off.
“What is this big hue and cry about literacy and illiteracy” asks Moni, a boy from the street who never knows if he will get his one square meal for the day. “I did go to school, but I can hardly concentrate on what the teacher is saying. When your hungry, its hard to…

Recently, I attended a Wednesday evening meditation session run by Charity Focus (http://www.charityfocus.org/new/) in the Bay Area. While meditation is often followed by discussion of a passage, they hosted a speaker instead - Mahendra Meghani, a translator, editor, bookseller, and publisher. He is a Gandhian, son of a Gujarati poet Jhaverchand Meghani who was named by Gandhi as the national poet of India.
Mr. Mahendra Meghani's bio and a note on his innovative publishing…

I am considering a fast unto death to start in Sept. after the Congressional hiatus, to get them to "Quit politics" in the issue of universal health coverage. I will obviously need alot of support including major media, to accomplish this. If we cannot reach the masses with a story like this, the meaning of the fast will be lost. I also would be willing to go down to D.C. while fasting and let the two houses SEE how determined some of us are to get everybody covered with SOME kind of health…

In the latter years of his life, Dr. King would speak openly against the war in Vietnam. His "three evils" were racism, poverty, and war. His used the platform that he was given by God himself to declare a moral voice to America and let the world know that violence and poverty were wrong.
Dr. King would use the same message to different audiences, yet he knew who his audience was and his message was still the same!
-he spoke calmly at Riverside Church, but the message was still…

When Mahatma Gandhi entered the Central Hall of the Government Circuit House at Ahmedabad on the 18th of March, 1922 to face a trial on a charge of sedition under section 124A of the Indian Penal Code about two hundred spectators inside the improvised courtroom stood up as a mark of respect to the frail figure in loincloth. It will be a rare confluence of the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Junior, nostalgia and jazz when Martin Luther King III comes to India Saturday to retrace the “pilgrimage” of his father 50 years ago.
The trip by Martin Luther King III, the eldest son of Martin Luther King Jr and Coretta Scott King, will be bristling with historical memories as he begins his India visit from New Delhi and goes to landmarks his father visited from Feb 10 to March 10,… Continue
