Food or Education; which comes first?

A strange question. Probably you haven’t thought about it. It is not you, that I have in mind , its those kids who from the street and slums, child laborers and underprivileged children that I am thinking off.

“What is this big hue and cry about literacy and illiteracy” asks Moni, a boy from the street who never knows if he will get his one square meal for the day. “I did go to school, but I can hardly concentrate on what the teacher is saying. When your hungry, its hard to concentrate and be alert in the class room”. Go to the slums, streets and places where children below 14 years labor, there are tens of thousands of Moni’s, all over the place.

What can you and I do about their hunger first. The simple theory of "each one reach one" can bring a solution to the problem in one stroke. This truth is but far from reality. We who have a burden and a fire burning to see that this hunger is met with food need to be proactive. We first need to “ARISE” , only then can we “GO” and make it happen.

Share your ideas or cost effective solutions or innovative ways as to how we can satisfy the hunger of a hungry child.

“If you can’t feed a hundred people, then just feed one.” – Mother Teresa
