- Why are you interested in the Gandhi-King Community?
- I have researched the Mississippi civil rights movement and have worked with SNCC and CORE in the past and was a highschool teacher for 18 years.
I have revised and updated my manuscript "Protest Politics in the Closed Society: The Story of the Mississippi Civil Rights Movement, 1960-1965" and have signed a contract with Louisiana State University Press to publish it in the spring of 2013.
The title of the book is now "Student Activism and Civil Rights in Mississippi: Protest Politics and the Stuggle for Racial Justice, 1960-1965."
I have finished my Non-Resident Fellowship at the W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research for 2009-2012 where I gathered additional civil rights materials which will become part of a public website of materials about SNCC and COFO affiliates in the southern civil rights movement.
