Why are you interested in the Gandhi-King Community?
I'm interested in re-structuring the way legislative bodies are composed. They should proportionally represent the populations they serve without reference to party affiliation or any other economic, political, anthropological or ideological position.

Working to produce a Road Trip for Democracy

Looking for venues and financial support to do this:

First Avenue: A 20-20 Road Trip … or … The Road Trip for Democracy

What are the options?  What do ‘the people’ know of libertarianism, deliberative democracy, sortitional selection, socialism, proportional representation, constitutional originalism or other pathways to a more perfect union?

We propose a road trip to locations around the country -- megalopolis to village.  At every event, each of a half-dozen proponents will lay out an option for what democracy’s next step might be.  To ensure these presentations are visually-engaging as well as substantial but succinct, each presenter will be required to speak in conjunction with 20 slides shown a strict 20 seconds each[1]. “Brevity is the soul of wit.”

After these six 6-minute-and-40-second presentations, the floor will open for an hour or so of general discussion.  We would expect the organizers of these venues to offer subsequent events for citizens to further respond and eventually to act upon their deliberations.[2]

[1] See: http://www.pecha-kucha.org/ We propose to re-brand the technique as either “20-20 Show & Tell” or just “The 20-20-20 Road Trip”

[2] Some venues might be organized as a Tedx event.  See http://www.ted.com/tedx
