2010 "Where Do We Go From Here?" King Institute Summer Conference

July 16-17 at Stanford University's King Research & Education Institute. The conference sessions bought together insightful experts and social activists of all ages to share ideas about how to build a broadly conceived effort to achieve global peace with social justice in a sustainable environment. On Friday, July 16, Tavis Smiley moderated a panel discussion that was recorded for his nationally broadcast radio program on July 23. Saturday workshops were held for K-12 teachers and for participants interested in continued collaboration following the conference.
Among the participants were Mary King of University for Peace, headquartered in Costa Rica; innovative educator Kiran Sethi, founder of Riverside School in India; Michael Nagler, founder of the Metta Center for Nonviolence Education in Berkeley; King advisor and Veterans of Hope director Vincent Harding; Dorothy Cotton, former director of SCLC's citizenship education program; Eric Mann, director of the Strategy Center in Los Angeles; Oscar-winning filmmaker Bill Guttentag (for screening of "Soundtrack for a Revolution"); singer Raffi Cavoukian, founder of Centre for Child Honouring; and Clayborne Carson, founder of the King Institute.
