Nellie Sen Gupta (1886-1973); widow of Jatindra Mohan Sen Gupta; she was President of Indian National Congress at one of its critical sessions in 1933; after partition in 1947 she settled in Pakistan. What is this we hear about your husband’s illness? Please send me a correct report and send him kind regards from us all. You know I have Sardar and Mahadev Desai for companions. 1

You will have seen that I spoke on Monday about the Chittagong affliction. Wires were received yesterday and now I have your letter. I have spoken to several people here, including the present Mayor, ex-Mayor Usman Saheb and the Prime Minister of West Bengal. You may depend upon my doing all I can, short of going to Chittagong, which too I would have gladly done were not my presence required here. 2
