Irrigation and Mahatma Gandhi

The need for providing irrigation facilities to the entire village cannot be emphasized too greatly. This is the foundation upon which agriculture depend for its progress, in the absence of which it remains a gambles. A drive for sinking wells, enlarging and dredging tanks and building canals has to be launched. The power engines used in rice and flour mills now can be acquired by the government to pump up water from tube wells. No proper manuring can be one  done without water facilities, as manure in the absence of water is harmful.
