Why are you interested in the Gandhi-King Community?
Gandhi quote; Be the change you want to see in the world.
That is the reason why the FRED & SHANTI project was established last year.
FRED & SHANTI is a peace project open for all people to join. Perhaps we can collaborate?
FRED & SHANTI peace letter
Peace is something that has to emerge within ourselves. The smallest unit of a community or nation, wich is an individual, should have peace at his/her heart & mind before we start talking about Global Peace Initiatives. Let us start with ourselves, our families, with our neighbours, with our friends and colleages. Be nice to them, give the best you can give with a smile & you will see that the world is changing. Think positive. In spite of all the problems and disturbances around usin every walk of life, there are also a lot of good things and good people around. Think about them, notice them, appreciate them and that will make you feel good. That is how we will get the peaceprocess started.

Everyone..., every child, woman and man... all people of all faiths and races must find a way to embrace eachothers differences and search to compromise and a way to coexist. The alternative is an unthinkable future for our children...

Many of the conflicts in the world are caused by differences between groups that allows one group to have power or privilege over another group. We must learn to share and respect eachother. We are all linked together in this world. Let us act accordingly.

The gratest challenge that the human race has ever faced still remains: to live in a world free of the threat of violence. Violence is not restricted to times of war; it exists everywhere: in homes, schools and communities. Where there is injustice, there is conflict. With problems so complex and entwined, what can be done? The solution depends on us all, and it starts with ourselves.

On a local level, many grass root organizations work directly with their communities to counter conflict with prevention strategies through educational campaigns as well as support services for those recovering from violence. Whether individually or in a group, we as global citizens have a responsibility to promote a culture of peace, and resolve differences without resorting to conflict.

Let us share our experiences, share what we can do to create a good atmosphere and a good environment. Let us encourage and support each other. What we have in common in terms of problems as well as strengths. The journey of thousand mlles start with one small step. Let us take that step together.

Fred & Shanti is a grassroot organization initiated by friends in India & Norway. The first get together was arranged the 2nd of October 2010 in Eidskog, Norway; a link between two small groups of individuals from two small communities of two different nations. Let us join hands in solidarity to make this world a little more beautyful & peaceful.

Our symbol is the Ant and the Elephant; Fred & Shanti, symbols of the people in Eidskog and India. The Ant Fred form Eidskog in Norway with 6400 inhabitants linked with Shanti the Elephant from India with 1,2 bill. people.

GUESS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE ANT AND THE ELEPHANT START MARCHING TOGETHER...

Our next gathering will be held in Eidskog 24.September 2011.

Welcome to Eidskog!
