Why are you interested in the Gandhi-King Community?: I have been involved in social justices’ movements more than 20 years. Few years practiced as a labor lawyer. Did research work regarding manual Scavengers. I was published a book on Scavengers issue in our regional language.

Thousands of farmers & weavers are committing suicides in India. I think these two lager communities are alienated from their production. The link between cotton farmers and handloom weavers were destroyed more than 200 years ago. Gandhi tried to evoke the nation through Khadi & charkha. Millions of common people involved national movement. Now we forgot that self-reliance, social justices, non violence & his legacy.
While doing a small study regarding farmers & weavers suicides suddenly I realized that the importance to re- establish the link between cotton framers & wavers.

In our state, an NGO called Decentralized Cotton Yarn Trust (DCYT) has started an initiation called “Field to Fabric”. Along with some patriotic scientists group 14 years, they did research work & invented smart spinning machines (small scale spinning units) & started decentralized, self sufficient Yarn making & weaving units in villages.
I left my practice & joined in this activity .Now we established 5 such units in out of Andhra Pradesh and 4 units in our state.
These units are producing Malkha fabric (like Khadi, it is a new product). I hope this actively should expand all over India.
