Why are you interested in the Gandhi-King Community?: I work in the area of gender and development and seek to bring about a change in the status of women in our society by brining about a change in the understanding of men and women about discriminatino and patriarchy and how gender class and caste based oppressino are in fact means of perpetuating a social order based on principles of aggression, dominance and violence, which is in reality an order located in the realm of masculinities. I identify peace as the primary work area here, because I believe that justice, dignity and equality are necessary conditions for the prevalence of peace, within the household as well as at a global level
