- Lester Kurtz is professor of public sociology at George Mason University, just outside of Washington, DC. He is interested in Gandhi, social movements (especially nonviolent resistance), comparative religions, and social theory, and is the author of many books and articles including the Encyclopedia of Violence, Peace, and Conflict (Elsevier, 2008).
