Why are you interested in the Gandhi-King Community?
I am very interested for four major reasons: 1. I have been developing character and peace education materials, projects and program for local appalachian school for over 35 years, 2. I have a MA in Peace & Development from Castellon Spain and of course we studied Gandhi and King, 3. In the development of my programs I use their theories of non-violence, yet I seek social justice through curriculum that is centered in critical pedagogy, and finally 4. I hope to finish my PhD in Teacher Ed Philosophy of Curriculum and Develpment with plans of using my International Research Center for Peace & Friendship as a Professional Develop school for classroom teachers as well as speaking at state and national conference break-out session sharing the paradym that peace education is in fact, character education which is mandated by standards in our public schools. with this said, I look forward to communicating in a collabrative of appalachian pro-activists which may include other such populations around the world (i.e., poor rural and inner city small town)...
thanks for being and blessings
