For Global Peace with Social Justice in a Sustainable Environment
As a student at Morehouse College, Julian Bond became involved in Atlanta protest campaign against segregation. He was a founder of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and edited SNCC's newsletter, THE STUDENT VOICE. He later became Chairman of the Board of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the oldest and largest American civil rights group. This photograph was taken on November 11, 2009, at a birthday dinner for Julian's brother James that was held after I interviewed Bond for my course at Morehouse College on King and the Modern Freedom Struggle.
