For Global Peace with Social Justice in a Sustainable Environment
All people have a right to good health and this mural project celebrates that right. Joaquin Newman and I painted the Right to Good Health mural for the Mission Neighborhood Health Center in San Francisco. MNHC has embraced our project. Under the direction of anthropology professor Mariana Ferreira students in her class at San Francisco State University surveyed patients, staff and administrators at the Center to help create the design. The mural was painted on canvas at Joaquin’s Forrealism Studio in Alameda and installed at the Center in February 2011. Our mural joined the two murals at the Center entrance painted by Michael Rios and Garciela Carrillo in 1977. Our mural was funded by the Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities of the National Institutes of Health (Grant 1R13MD005792-01).
