For Global Peace with Social Justice in a Sustainable Environment

64th Gandhi Martyrs' Day was observed under the leadership of Bombay Sarvodaya Mandal and Gandhi Smarak Nidhi on 30-1-2012. In the Peace March 602 students from 25 colleges of Mumbai University and SNDT Women's University took part and spread the message of peace, non-violence and communal harmony. Volunteers wearing masks and carrying banners and placards with slogans on communal harmony, "Hands not for hurting, but for help", "India is a unity of all religions" were the main attraction of the peace rally.The pledge was administered by Prof. Vibhuti Patel, Director, PGSR of SNDT Women's University, Mumbai. Pledge for Communal Harmony:
We, the citizens of Mumbai, on the death anniversary of our beloved Mahatma Gandhiji, do hereby solemnly pledge that:
 We shall support truth without fear or prejudice.
 We shall oppose all forms of communalism, casteism and chauvinism.
 We shall rise above religion, caste, creed, community, language or gender and respect one another on grounds of our common humanity. We will not co-operate with people opposing these values.
 We shall not support or resort to violence and intolerance under any circumstances and we will obey the Indian constitution and laws.
 We will not take any steps which would harm our country or ruin its reputation.
 We are proud to be Indians; we shall work for the unity of India and shall dedicate ourselves to the task of making India a great and progressive nation.
 We shall work for promoting harmony, goodwill and peace in the world.
