For Global Peace with Social Justice in a Sustainable Environment
Michael Colopy's Architects of Peace
Nelson Mandela led the fight agaisnt apartheid for two decades before he was sentenced to life in prison in 1964. In 1990 the long campaign for his release was successful and the newly legalized African National Congress elected him their president the next year. His work led to a Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 and the first multiracial elections in South Africa in 1994. This photo was taken by Michael Colopy.
