For Global Peace with Social Justice in a Sustainable Environment
I wanted to start an online discussion on Bayard Rustin, someone who learned from Gandhi and instructed King in the African-American struggle for freedom in the United States.
For a class with Professor Carson this quarter I spent much time and energy creating a blog on Rustin's life related to nonviolent resistance at the following link: http://csmanleybrustin.wordpress.com/.
Please do visit the site, and let's start a discussion about Rustin. I would be interested to learn more about Gandhi's life, as well,to see how it connected and diverged from that of Bayard.
Peace and justice,
Cole Manley

Wow! Thanks for introducing me to this site. I will have to go through it, and get back to you. You have made an awesome blog. Wish ours looked like that!
We have several books on Gandhi, please see our site: www.wiseearthpublishers.com
There were many African American's who were able to go meet Gandhi when he was in India in the 30's and 40's. He admired Roland Hayes, and African American Hymns, in which he found pure teachings for ethical life.
Also want you to know about a present day resister of violence, in the footsteps of Gandhi, Irom Sharmila.
Please see this site: http://earthethics.org.in/content/indias-irom-sharmila-chanu-power-...
she is much less known due to forced isolation, suppression of all her human rights, etc.
And today, a friend introduced me to a Maori group in New Zealand, whose early non-violent resistance Gandhi is reported to have heard about and been influenced by in his law school days, for a quick summary:
Wishing you the best, will check back in when I have time to study Bayard Rustin from your blog.
with love in the service of truth, and please add me as your friend,
Aunty Kamala
