Why are you interested in the Gandhi-King Community?
I received my Bachelor's in Communications in May of 2010 with a double minor in History and African-American history. I have a strong passion in African-American history with a concentration in the Civil Rights Movement. I am also a member of the Civil Rights Heritage Center on the campus of IU South Bend. At the Center, I have been blessed to coordinate five "Church in the Movement" programs.......this historically deals with the role of (Christian) churches during the Civil Rights Movement and what our churches are doing in our communities today.
I'm thankful for the life and legacy of one of my mentors that I've studied for over twenty years....Pastor Dr. Martin Luther King! He is one of the greatest social prophets that God has sent to America. Just as Gandhi inspired King through non-violence, Dr. King has inspired and challenged me to speak about the love of Jesus. This is that love that transformed an enemy into a friend! This is the love that King carried with him from his pulpit or wherever he was invited to speak around the world. I follow the same words that he publicly spoke at Mason Temple, April 3, 1968: "I just want to do God's will!"
By the grace of God, I pray as a Christian to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ and inspire African-Americans to appreciate their heritage.....and any culture as welll. By the grace of God, We Shall Overcome!!!
I also have a myspace page too. If you so desire, you can talk with me there too. I have a nice background layout of Dr. King himself. Have Fun!!
