Why are you interested in the Gandhi-King Community?
My name is Donna Walker and I am a Christian follower of the teachings and philosophies of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His practices of nonviolence as a means of eliminating the injustices that had become part of an accepted way of life for persons of color before the Civil Rights Movement, proved to be the needed remedy for the horrible and intolerable acts of cruelty perpetrated by those who were infected with the illness, the disease, the sin, and the evilness of racial prejudice. The United States of America has been blessed beyond measure to have been the birthplace and the home of such a great man who worked to eradicate this nation of the vile residue that resulted from the institution of slavery. For all those who chose and who still choose to follow Dr. King as the leader of the Civil Rights Movement even after being martyred for the cause, the resulting civil rights and the opportunities that we are now afforded in this country as Black Americans make him The Greatest Leader of our time and one of the greatest of all time. He is due our allegiance, our respect, and our love and I personally have and will continue to pledge to do all that I can to make sure that his message of peace, unity, justice, and brotherly love continue to permeate the American social experience in a way that we will all come to understand the logic and wisdom of living so that all will be able to enjoy freedom and liberty.
Dear Donna,
I have learned that inner peace comes with effort, but most times with difficulty. Through constant learning and working with "others of peace, love and respect" I continue my journey through life. With me all the time is the presence of God as well as the friendhsip of people like you and others in our community - the community of "oneness."
As we bond in our belief in God and in our humanitarian worldwide peace efforts, one day we will meet in person.
Aunty Kamala
I appreciate the principled tenor in your writings. Would you be my friend?
with Love,
Aunty Kamala
