DESCRIPTION:Nonviolence revolution is on the rise, and nonviolence  t
 raining is critically important. The University of Rhode Island is ple
 ased to present the 10th International Nonviolence Summer Institute, o
 ffering three training programs based on the principles and practices 
 of nonviolence as derived from the methods and philosophy espoused by 
 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Senior Facilitator and Lead Trainer Bernar
 d LaFayette, Jr. Ed. D. Friend and confidant of Dr. Martin Luther King
 , Jr. Civil Rights Movement activist, minister, educator, lecturer. Gl
 obal authority on nonviolent social change.\nThis program is specifica
 lly designed for those interested in acquiring the skills necessary 
 for promoting peace, nonviolence & social change. The Institute prov
 ides an open, supportive, and interactive training environment. Past p
 articipants have consisted of persons from various backgrounds, profes
 sions, cultures, and regions of the world.\nDetails and Registartion C
 lick Here.\nIntroduction to Kingian Nonviolence (June 6-7)\nThis train
 ing introduces key concepts and important background information about
  nonviolence, including core values, conflict analysis, nonviolent his
 torical movements, dynamics of social change, and study of several of 
 the most important essays written by Dr. King. \n \nLevel I Nonviolen
 ce Training Certification (June 6-17)\nWEEK ONE. The initial week of t
 raining coincides with the introductory training in  Participants lea
 rn through a combination of instructional and interactive small group 
 activities and training exercises. \nWEEK TWO. The second week of trai
 ning prepares participants to become certified trainers capable of del
 ivering a 2-Day Introductory Nonviolence Workshop. This portion of the
  training involves practice presentations of workshop sessions.\n\nLev
 el II Advanced Nonviolence Training Certification (June 13-17)\nThe co
 urse offers in-depth study of Kingian nonviolence methodology, includi
 ng a review of the Level I curriculum, historical and attitudinal rese
 arch, and strategies for community organizing and mobilization. Emphas
 is is on leadership development and continued involvement in nonviolen
