Why are you interested in the Gandhi-King Community?
I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of History at The University of Georgia. My research interests include nineteenth-century American history, U. S. Women's History, and African American education. I am currently writing a dissertation that examines the lives and teaching of black and white women teachers during the Reconstruction Era. I served as a research assistant on the Freedom on Film: Civil Rights in Georgia project from 2007 – 2008, and is working on an essay with Dr. Barbara McCaskill on Joseph Richardson Jones, an early civil rights activist from Atlanta.
